GRADUATE RESEARCH SUPPLEMENTAL TRAVEL AWARD (2007-2008)
Award: up to $400 and must be supported with a dollar-for-dollar match from university funds
Eligibility:
Awarded for currently enrolled U of U graduate students whose research
or creative project has been accepted for presentation at a
professional meeting. (Student must be presenting at the meeting).
Deadline: Applications must be received in the Graduate School prior to travel dates.
GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
Award: $15,000 plus tuition
Eligibility:
Full-time graduate student working toward Ph.D. degree; Passed all
qualifying examinations prior to Fall semester 2007; Engage in
full-time research during the academic year of the fellowship
Deadline: January 18, 2008, Director of Graduate Fellowships, 302 Park Building
UNIVERSITY TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS
Award: $12,000 plus tuition*
Eligibility:
Full-time graduate TA (1st year graduate students not eligible). *Award
qualifies student for university's tuition benefit program, provided
all other criteria are met.
Deadline: February 2, 2007, Director of Graduate Fellowships, 302 Park Building
GARR CUTLER ENERGY AWARD
Award: $2,000 plus tuition
Eligibility:
University of Utah graduate student; Principal author of a paper making
a significant contribution in an area of energy; Paper must be
published in a peer-reviewed journal; Paper must be completed within
the prior academic year
Deadline: February 1, 2008, Director of Graduate Fellowships, 302 Park Building
STEFFENSEN CANNON SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $15,000 plus tuition, renewable
Eligibility: (a)Graduate
students in the colleges of Education and Humanities, (b) secondary
education students (particularly in mathematics, science, and early
childhood education) who will be in the College of Education’s teacher
certification program by Fall Semester 2008, and (c) direct descendants
of Ellen Christina Steffensen Cannon.
Deadline: February 15, 2008, to the appropriate college or Graduate School
National Council for Geographic Education DISSERTATION AWARD
Award
: One $300 award, and one $100 award, plus a one-year NCGE membership
and a waiver of meeting registration fees for the NCGE Annual Meeting
Eligibility
: Must have received a doctoral degree within the previous two years
(2005, 2006, or early 2007). (All applicants are expected to make an
oral presentation of their research at the NCGE annual meeting.)
Deadline: submitted by March 15, 2007
E. Willard & Ruby S. Miller GRANTS FOR RESEARCH IN GEOGRAPHIC EDUCATION
Award : Up to $4000 for projects lasting up to 24 months
Eligibility
: Must be a National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) member.
Grantees are required to present the results of their projects: 1) at
an annual meeting of the NCGE; and 2) in a manuscript submitted for
publication in the Journal of Geography.
Deadline for proposal submission is March 15, 2007
WOMEN IN GEOGRAPHIC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Award : $300, additional $300 for travel expenses to attend NCGE annual meeting
Eligibility : The student must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a geography GPA of 3.5
Deadline: To the NCGE Central Office no later than March 15, 2007
DAVID C. WILLIAMS MEMORIAL GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
Award : $5000 (Recipients may also be eligible for a 1/2 tuition waiver)
Eligibility : Students must be committed to writing a major paper or project, thesis, or dissertation that focuses on the priniciples of stewardship and sustainability in the management of public lands.
Deadline: Applications must be received in the College of Social and Behavioral Science Office, 205 OSH, by 4:00 PM, Friday, February 22nd.
